FAQs
Why Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine focuses on uncovering root causes, optimizing function, and creating personalized strategies that support long-term health. Rather than relying on quick fixes, my approach helps you identify underlying contributors and strengthen foundational systems — including digestion, detoxification, immunity, hormonal health, and cellular energy. At any life stage I support you through feeling healthy again, disease prevention, and resilience.

Does a Naturopathic Doctor replace a Medical Doctor?
No. Naturopathic care is meant to complement, not replace, conventional medical care. We encourage collaboration with your medical team, including your MD, and provide safe, evidence-informed therapies alongside standard treatments. If something falls outside our scope, we refer you to the appropriate provider.

How should I prepare for my
initial visit with Dr. Emily?
Please complete the intake forms sent to your email before your visit. If you have recent lab results, test reports, or other relevant health information, you can upload them in advance or bring them with you to help us make the most of your appointment.

What can I expect at my first visit?
Your first appointment will focus on understanding your health history, current concerns, and lifestyle factors. We may discuss lab tests, nutrition, stress, sleep, and other areas affecting your well-being. Together we'll create a personalized plan to support your health goals.

Does OHIP cover Naturopathic visits?
No, OHIP does not cover naturopathic care. However, many extended health benefit plans do, similar to dental, chiropractic, and physiotherapy services. We provide receipts for your insurance claims.

Do I need a referral to see a Naturopathic Doctor?
No referral is required. You can book an appointment directly.

How often should I come for visits?
The frequency of visits depends on your health goals, current conditions, and the plan we develop together. Some patients benefit from weekly or biweekly visits initially, then move to monthly or seasonal check-ins for ongoing wellness.

Do naturopathic treatments have side effects?
Naturopathic treatments are generally safe, and we carefully select therapies based on your individual health profile. Some herbal or nutritional supplements may have mild side effects, which we monitor closely. Your safety is always a priority.

Can children and babies see a Naturopathic Doctor?
Yes! Naturopathic Doctors provide care for children of all ages—from newborns to teens—supporting digestive and immune health, sleep, behavioural concerns, and healthy development. Treatments are always tailored to each child’s unique needs and safety.
NDs also support families before and after birth, offering care during preconception, fertility, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. This holistic approach helps support both parents and children through every stage, promoting long-term wellness for the whole family.
